DSC

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) has the purpose of obtaining information by monitoring heat flow in relation to temperature.

Equipment: Modulated Differential Scanning Calorimeter, Model: Q100, Brand: TA Instruments, with temperature range between -85ºC and 600ºC.

Standards: ASTM D3417, ASTM D3418, among others.









 

TGA

Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) is a technique in which mass loss or gain of a sample is monitored in relation to temperature (and time), in a controlled nitrogen or synthetic air atmosphere environment.

Equipment: TGA Thermogravimetric Analyzer, Model: Q50, Brand: TA Instruments, with temperature range between 23ºC and 1.000ºC.

Standards: ASTM E 1131, DIN EN ISO 1172, among others.









 

MFI

Equipment: Extrusion Plastometer to determine Melt Flow Index, Model: MI-1, Brand: DSM.

Standards: ISO 1133, ASTM D 1238, among others.

 

 

 

 







 

FOGGING

The fogging test can be photometric or gravimetric. The photometric test determines the fogging based on gloss change. The gravimetric test determines the fogging based on mass change. The equipment features bath temperature and cooling plate adjustment.

Equipment:  Fogging Tester FT-F1 Labthink.

Standards: SAE J1756, GMW 3235, DIN 75201, D45 1727, among others.









 

HARDNESS

Equipment: Hardness Tester, Model: HT1, Brand: Wolpert; Hardness Shore A and Shore D

About the test: assessment of surface hardness, measuring the penetration resistance of the materials.

Standards: ISO 48, ASTM D 1415, ISO 868, ASTM D 2240, ISO 2039-1, among others.










 

FLAMMABILITY

The assessment of the burning speed of the material and its burning behavior is an essential safety criterion in the transportation, packaging, furniture and electrical equipment sectors.

DENSITY

VISCOSITY

VISUAL ASSESSMENT

The visual assessment of the samples exposed to a degradation test is performed before and after the test, using a light cabinet to detect cracks, fissures, bubbles and other types of defects.

Equipment: Color Checker Executive – Adexim-Comexim.

Standards: ASTM D1729, NBR 11.160
 








 

COLOR

The color of the samples exposed to a degradation test is measured before and after the test using a colorimeter or spectrocolorimeter. The details vary from one test method to another.

Laboratory measuring instruments are often used in the industry to check the color of manufactured products compared to a color standard. Obtaining the following coordinates:
ΔL * = difference in lightness and darkness (+ = lighter, - = darker)

Δa * = difference in red and green (+ = redder, - = greener)

Δb * = difference in yellow and blue (+ = yellower, - = bluer)

ΔE * = total color difference (total color difference of the three coordinates)

BRILHO

The gloss of a paint finish, plastic material or any other area is a key component in the user’s perception.
Equipment: GLOSSMETER – NEW GLOSS RHOPOINT NGT 20.
Conditions of the equipment: Gloss measured at 20°, 60° and 85°.

Standards: FLTM BI 110-01, ASTM D 523, 50457, among others.









 

ADHESION

Equipment: Grid Cutting Device TQC (Thermimport Quality Control) Adhesion Test, 3mm chisel and 3M Scotch Adhesive Tape 898

Conditions of the equipment: Grids with distances of 1mm, 2mm and 3mm.

TOTAL LAYER THICKNESS

PENCIL HARDNESS

The pencil hardness test is to determine the surface resistance of paint to scratching of known hardness.

The wear resistance test is essential for exposed parts.

CLIMATE CHAMBER

Equipment: Temperature and Relative Humidity Parameters are recorded and plotted by our data logging systems. Our climate chambers reach the temperature of -40 to 180° C; and relative humidity from 20% to 95% between 20 and 80°C.

THERMAL AGING - UV

The equipment features process time control, preset hour meter, condensation temperature cycle controller, temperature cycle controller of UV-cycle and functional ventilation.

Equipment: C-UV Chamber, Model 003 SPI - Hybrid, COMEXIM Matérias Primas Indústria e Comércio Ltda.

Standards: SAE J844, D27 5439, 50471/01, among others.







 

THERMAL AGING – XENON ARC

UV aging instruments (Weather-Ometer and Fade-Ometer) equipped with a xenon arc lamp are recognized as the accelerated aging instruments that best simulate natural aging.

Test performed to check the UV Light Resistance of the Product, operating with xenon lamp. The equipment features automatic controls of temperature, relative humidity inside the aging chamber, irradiance, wavelength, rain and day/night.

Equipment: WEATHER-OMETER (WOM) ATLAS CI 4000.

EQUIPAMENT Q-SUN Xe-3-HBS, Q-LAB (Q-LAB 1).

Standards: ASTM G 155, ISO 105-B06, 50451/01, SAE J2412, PV 1303, FLTM BO 116-01, among others.



 

TENSILE/BENDING/TEAR

The Universal Testing Machine INSTRON 3369 is coupled to a software application that allows obtaining different results (modulus, elongation, maximum strength, load, etc.) and the stress x strain curve. It is possible to perform the tensile, bending, tearing, adhesion, and Poisson's ratio testing.

In addition, the device has a climatic chamber enabling the air conditioning -80ºC to +200ºC of the materials. The climatic chamber keeps the temperature throughout the test ensuring reliability and accuracy in the analysis.

Standards: ISO 527-1, ISO 527-2, ISO 178, ISO 37, ISO 34, ASTM, ASTM D1000... among others.





 

CHARPY IMPACT/ IZOD IMPACT

Tests for obtaining impact strength; the impact tests at different temperatures allow obtaining information on the ductile/brittle transition. 

Equipment: CEAST Testing Machine, Model: Resil 25 P/N 6545.500

Standards: ISO 179, ISO 180, ASTM D256.


 








 

MULTIAXIAL IMPACT/FALLING DART

In these tests, the polymeric materials are subjected to extreme conditions. The response of the material to this type of request provides an adequate estimate of the mechanical behavior under impact. The Machine CEAST 9350/INSTRON is coupled to a software application that allows obtaining the impact curve, as well as the energy. In addition, the equipment features speed, height and weight control and a climate chamber enabling the air conditioning from -80 to +200°C of the materials. The climate chamber keeps the temperature throughout the test ensuring reliability and accuracy in the analysis.

Equipment: Multiaxial Impact CEAST 9350 / INSTRON.

Standards: ASTM D3763, ISO 6603-1/2, I.S.15-0424, FIAT 50424, among others.





 

BALL DROP

Equipment: PVC Pipe set at different heights; steel balls and rubber balls with different weights. Test performed in ambient conditions, high and low temperatures.

Standards: PV 3905, TL 529, GMW 14093, TSM 0502G, among others.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE/ACID-BASE RESISTANCE/RESISTANCE TO CLEANING REAGENTS, ETC

Equipment: Bonnet ovens, ovens, climate chambers and different reagents

ODOR

The test considers two criteria: evaluation of odor intensity and identification of the type of odor. Evaluations are performed on materials or elements contained in bottles or bags.

INJECTION

Equipment: Injection Machine ROMI Pratica 130

Conditions of the equipment: Single screw. Clamping force of mold 130T; minimum size of the mold 300x300mm; maximum size of the mold 640x420mm; injection molds for ISO and ASTM specimens.

VALIDATION OF FRONTAL, VERTICAL AND CURTAIN AIRBAGS 

Among the requirements of an airbag is the need for materials that have high strength, heat stability, good aging characteristics and air permeability. Being a safety item, it is important to ensure that the airbag will be triggered in extreme temperatures and that it will open as specified.
